Tool to see what causes the hangup?

    Hi,

I have a user that runs a small batch job (inserts, deleted) against the database. Normally, the job runs in 20-30 seconds. Once in a while, it may take up to 20 minutes for approximately the same number of records.

I know I can use Statspack to get metrics, but is there a way I can find out what exactly is causing the job to run slowly? When I look at the database activity, it doesn't appear to be more than usual.

Our UNIX admin says that systemwise, there are enough resources available.

Does anybody have a script or know of a tool that could help me out?

    Thanks
