    To create a centralised tnsnames.ora

    Hi Friends,
    We have more than 6 QA database's, and each time any new DB is up i need to make changes in all the QA database.I am planing to create a centralised location for tnsnames.ora file where in i just add in one location and all the 6 QA gets this reflected.Can any one help me in setting this up or help in getting DOC's on this.

    win 2k? unix?

    on win 2k you could map a drive to shared location

    Hi Steve,
    Its on UNIX-solaris 2.7
    oracle 8.1.7.4

    You could get a shared mount point, and set the environment variable TNS_ADMIN to where you want to keep your sqlnet files.

    If that doesn't work for some reason, you could always soft link all tnsnames.ora's in each ORACLE_HOME to one file on a shared mount point.

    Hi Friends,
    Thanks to all, i was able to do this.I created a shared mount point created a tnsnames.ora file there and created a soft link from all the oracle client m/c to this mount point.
