Can I Apply 9.2.0.3 Patch Without A Database?

I've recently installed Oracle 9i Database (64 bit) Release 2 (9.2.0.1) on my Solaris 2.8 system. I have not created a database yet.
Can I install the Patch Set Version 9.2.0.3.0 to my system without a database?
I am aware that there is a later patch, but I want to install this one first.
I have already upgraded the O.U.I. to version 2.2.0.18.0

    Thanks.

I believe that this is the best way to do a patch. Cause once you have a DB, then running catpatch on evry database associated to that home is tedious.

Another question on: 9.2.03 and 9.2.0.4

I have a telecom schema with hundreds of tables & triggers ........

If I create a DB with all standard features - especially XML XDB schema, i find that my full export always fails. Or rather, it hangs while exporting triggers and stays stuck there.

My workaround has been to create a DB without the XML XDB schema
    and everything works fine.

Has anybody encountered this problem before. 9.2.0.4 did not fix this problem.

    Thanks,
    Nizar
