    Can these schemas safely dropped?

    Hi

Having these schemas in my Oracle 9i database. I have used dbca to create database. Can I use drop user cascade command to drop these users.

ORDSYS, ORDPLUGINS, MDSYS, CTXSYS, XDB, ANONYMOUS, WKSYS, WKPROXY, ODM, ODM_MTR, OLAPSYS, WMSYS

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance

    I guess so.
I cleaned my 9i database to have sys, system, outln and dbsnmp
    only, and it works fine.

did you create the database by DBCA???? That's why you have a lot of stuffs in there. I know for sure MDSYS, ORDSYS is for ORACLE SPATIAL other schemas are not sure.

In DBCA you can install all kinds of extra goodies in your database. Keep these options selected and you'll get the surpluss in schemas.

I always let DBCA create batch files instead of letting DBCA create the db. You can screen those batch files for mistakes you made in the dbca-gui (check, check, double check!) or alter tablespace settings before creating the db.
Plus: you'll get to understand the creation process better.
