    Question Database service startup problem

    sir,

I am using Oracle 8.i/9.i on windows XP professional. whenever I create database I can start and shutdown that database at that instance. But when I shutdown the system and restart windows the entire database goes off and status is still "STARTING". How can I get rid of this problem. and suggest with your valuable words.

    thanking you

    bala

Is there any messages/alerts in the alert logs when the databases are attempting to start?

What is this 8i/9i? If the database is 8i,the first comaptible version on this platform is 9i.
Drop the service and create a new one just to confirm whether it is an OS or oracle problem

I'm also got this problem as well.

But mine is oracle 8.1.6 on a Windows 2000 server (SP4).

Been running for a while. But went to reboot it just once in the last 3 months and now the service is stuck on "starting". Database does not start up, have to start up manually through svrmgrl.

    Any ideas?
