Why do u want to install again, your last installation would have already installed Installer.

    Universal Installer

    Hi,

In the last installatin , we did not choose that option in custom installation, so it was not installed.

So would you recommand to go head and install universal installer with out bringing the db down?

    Thanks,

    Hi,
Even if you do custom installation it would have by default installed installer, just check for installed componets, you would find the Installer present

    Hi ,

Thanks for quick reply , I just checked my Oracle install location , it is empty (i.e /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory/oui) directory empty.

Please let me know if you suggest me to proceed further.

    Thanks,

I think that you have to choose the installer explicitly when doing a custom install; at least in some versions. It's certainly true for 8.1.7 Release 3 for HP-UX PA RISC 64bit.

You can install it without stopping the database. I've done this myself.
