    8.1.7 install and spec questions

    Hi,
I'm trying to install 8.1.7 database using Solaris 8 on Sun V480 server. Trying to test whether it can handle 8000 transaction simultaneously. Is Sun V480 durable for this kinds of transactions or do I need more robust server?
    Thanks

I do not think V480 server could handle 8000 transaction per second ( or concurrently).

8000 transactions? Or 8000 sessions? Or 8000 queries per second?
Maybe you should look at http://tpc.org (in the TPC-C section), there aren't many results from SUN, but you can get the general idea how many procesors/memory/disks for how many tpmC (8000*60 = 480 000 tpmC).
