    Data guard & Standby Database

    Could someone telle me the difference between Data guard & Standby Database for Oracle 9i

    Oracle 9i : standard edition : only standby edition
    enterpresie edition : standby edition and Data guard

    hi,
    Standby feature is a part of Data Guard and Data Guard is a part of Enterprise Edition!

    The Standby feature incl. in Standard Edition since vers. 7.x has reduced functionality in comparison to Enterprise Edition.
    - managed standby mode
    - log-transfer with net8
    etc.

    We have a HA-solution, based on the oracle standby feature, which needs no Enterprise Edition, but offers the functionality of Enterprise Edition.
