    Reports Service in 9iAS

    Hi,

I have recently installed a business intelligence instance of 9iAS release 2 on a windows2000 platform. During the initial run of the installer the installation of the reports service failed. Clicking on retry resulted in success but with the following error

    ERROR: Registering Reports Provider
ERROR: Reports Page could not be created

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    Action finished : SQLPlus
    Reports registration was successful
    Reports Configuration succeeded

However, I cannot start the service from within the EM Website because it is unable to locate jvm.dll.
Doing some research informed to start the report server service. But
Unfortunately, there is no listed service for Report Server.

Is there supposed to be one, and if so how do I create it post install?

    Please help me.thanks

It has been a few months so this might not be exactly correct.

It seems that you need to start or restart the jserver when you start or restart Apache.

    Good luck.

Did you get just those errors, or was there something else like the error shown below (also includes your errors):

    Oracle9i Reports Release Notes
    Release 2 (9.0.2)
    Part Number A96189-02

2.1 Reports Configuration Assistant Fails during Installation
During installation, if the Reports Configuration Assistant fails and gives the following message:

Process destroyed exception (in the installer configuration palette)

    then perform the following steps:

Log on to the Oracle Internet Directory and obtain the Oracle9iAS Portal user database password.

Log on to the metadata repository as the Oracle9iAS Portal user and run the following script:

    ORACLE_HOME/portal/admin/plsql/wwd/rwaddpag.sql

This creates the Reports portlet in Oracle9iAS Portal.

Alternatively, you can create a tnsnames entry and execute the script as the Oracle9iAS Portal user with the user password obtained from the Oracle Internet Directory in Step 1.

    Sorry for my late reply.

Stecal the script was executed sucessfully.
    the sequenece is:
1)Report configuration failed in the first attempt.
2)I tried again to configure it

Configuration succeeded in the second try.But script was executed already during the first attempt and had created that provider and report page.

Later after some search,I came to know that it is just a warning and nothing to worry about the report configuration.thanks for your response.

But anyways I showed me the error "REP-56055: Exceed max connections allowed: 20".
Followed the following suggestion provided by Mark Rittman's oracle weblog:

    Find the file ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/repservername.conf

where ORACLE_HOME is your applications (not infrastructure) home, and repservername is your reports server name, i.e. rep_markr.

    Find the line
Change the maxConnect value to something like "100"
    Restart your reports server.

I restarted the dcmctl and it worked fine.thanks stecal and knight.I appreciate it.

    regards
