dbassist does not work

Hello ,

I have installed oracle 8.1.7 on Linux machine running RH 7.2 . I had to install a lot of rpms to get this installation done eg.
compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2.i386.rpm
compat-libs-6.2-3.i386.rpm etc...

Now the installation of oracle software went through properly, but am unable to run dbassist. There is no problem with display settings since I could run the runInstaller properly.. When I give dbassist & nothing happens. Any idea what could the problem be or where can the logs for this be found ?

had a hard time with rh 7.2 as i believe it is not certified for 8i
install rh 6.2 that should work fine

this is my opinion
