    oracle -Linux

    Hi ,

    Pls post your views for the following questions

    1/Which version of linux(7.2 or 7.3 or 8 or if any latest) best for ORACLE 9i

    2/can We run the Oracle server on linux and run all my clients on windows platforms( i am sure 90% possibale, may be i wrong) or do i need to change any thing to app which will run using the client , if i moving to Linux platform

    none of these versions are certified with 9i so you don't want to run your production on these environment. I have Linux 7.3 running with Oracle 9.2.0.3 and it's running fine but again NO SUPPORT

    Then which version of linux is Oracle supporting and how it differes from regular linux(if any different)

    Oracle 9.0.1 EE is certified on:

    SuSE 7.2
    SuSE 7.1

    Red Hat 7.1

    If you want to use the most recent version of 9i (Release 9.2) then certified platforms are (from MetaLink 'Certify and Availability'):

    UnitedLinux 1.0
    SuSE SLES7
    RedFlag DC Server 4.0 (China-HongKong only)
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 2.1
    Monta Vista Carrier Grade Linux 3.0 (Embedded)
