Cox Communications is the poster boy of MySQL now. Another interesting story is that MySQL will be used in the SAP proprietary database in the future. It is gaining momentum.
I have used MySQL and it is not nearly as feature rich or easy to use as Oracle or UDB, but for a simple application, the cost speaks for itself.

I'm as old as m'tongue, and a little older than m'teeth.
What kind of preparation were you doing, Amar?

Bottom line is you can't take a huge vessel(read ship) and expect to start making waves in a pond, leave alone staying afloat. The smaller dtaabases vendors are making solid ground(mysql) being the one hogging the most spotlight. And I'm certain that sqlserver might suffer as it's ground on small businesses will be/may be taken over by the likes of mysql.
The MySQL version 5 and 6 are going to be feature rich databases. pl/sql kind of features, more stuff is coming. It's interesting but I guess I'm much too oracle tuned...

All of a sudden I feel young again . . . my grandmother used to say that!
