oracle 9i and 8i and namesserver

I already have oracle 8.1.7.4 running on windows 2000, and I also have namesserver running on the same machine. I just install Oracle 9i on this same machine and I create a new instance on the 9i, the question is:

    1. Can I use the namesserver of 8i and just load the new instance of 9i???

    2. Can I have two namesserver (8i and 9i) on the same mahince????
    3. Can I have only one namesserver and use it for 8i and 9i instance or vice vesus????

    thanks

Oracle are moving away from Names Server to LDAP Directory Naming, 9i is the final release of Names Server

I set up Names Server about a year ago and found it very easy to use. One drawback is that it is necessary to use TNS for Forms Servers and Reports Servers. Names Server cannot accomodate that type of entry.

In November, 2002, i successfully set up an LDAP server on 9i r2. Considering that it is the stated direction of Oracle, it was surprising that i needed to rely on some notes from the local user group to set it up properly.
