    Hi,
How to retreive the TRUNCATED data.

One of table in our production has been truncated. How to retreive the data? The DB version is Oracle 8i.

Point In Time (PIT) recovery, providing you run your database in archivelog mode.

Also if you have access to Metalink you might want to have a look at this for step-by-step instructions

    Rgds,
No, TRUNCATE TABLE command is a DDL command, not a DML command. LogMiner doesn't support DDL commands.

Basic step by step if the database is in archivelog mode

    1. Restore a backup of the database to another location.
    2. Recover this database to a moment in time BEFORE the truncate command occurred using RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL TIME .....
    3. Export the table data from this recovered database.
    4. Import the data back into the original database
    5. Remove the restored database.

    Rgds,
Given your database is in archive log mode and all the arch logs are saved then you can (guessing/figuring out on when exactly the truncation occured)find the scn number and then carryout the PIT.

I did post an example on the DBAsupport.com forum last year, but also have it here on my website. Maybe interesting for you to take a look...http://www.oraflame.com/tech/logmnr_ddl.php
