Question Legato with Rman (is Legato running??)

i read in an old post:
"Legato Storage manager comes as the default media manager for RMAN. If you are using this software, make sure it is installed and running."

I inherited a 9.2.0.2 on Solaris database which was ALMOST set up for rman backups supposedly using Legato.

I was wondering how I can determine if Legato is installed and how to make it run.

I've already read the "NetWorker Module for Oracle 8 & 9 on Solaris Evaluation Guide" which references Legato and how to test rman and test backups to tape.

My test to check tape backup didn't work and now I am trying to figure out how to turn Legato 'on' or get it running or to see if it was installed (before I go and install it).

    Thanks in advance.

Many, many moons ago when I used Legato, it was installed as a unix package (not pl/sql package).

You can see what packages are installed on your box by using the pkginfo command.
