SQL tuning GOOD book recommendation ?
Can anyone recommend a good SQL Tuning perf. book, that cover DBMS_STATS options in details, etc, etc.
Most of the ones I have thumbed thru talk about how to gather stats, but not what all the options mean, and what is the preffered way to analyze: example: for all columns, or for all index columns, etc, etc.

A combination of these 2 books is the best that I can think of...

I too would recommend Guy Harrison's book. (Tom Kyte's long-awaited, but yet unpublished, new book is likely to be a good bet.)

mr DaPi:
Which book of Tom Kyte are you referring to? A new version of Expert one-on-one? I would really want one that also covers Oracle9i...
An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.

Guy Harrison's book "Oracle SQL High-Performance Tuning " was published in Dec 2000 ! Those who have it: Are you recommending it for the explaination of the concepts, not necessarily for the implementation of Oracle options ?
Also, I have Tom Kyte's book, and it does not have what I am looking for either !

Go for the concepts; the details will come with a little RTFM. Three chapters of Harrison's book would have fixed nearly every performance prob I've seen posted here.
Don't see how you can have Kyte's new book - it's not published yet!
