Heavy load increasing on the server!!

    Hi All,
I'm running with RH Linux7.2 Oracle 9.0.1.4. Suddenly now, my server load increasing a lot and reached to 17.5 and i'm seeing at lots of oracle processes are starting up with 100% CPU Usage. When i'm trying to trace those sessions with the PID either thru TOAD or OEM, i'm not looking at atleast one single connection. Can any one help me please. This is an urgent problem to be solved , all my 500 around users are struck.

    Many thanks in advance

In general, defunct processes are caused by a parent process not
reaping its children. Find out which process is the parent
process of all those zombies (ps -e). It's that process that
    has a bug.

No Slimdave, i've not enables parallel query option.

Thanks a lot slimdave for your valuable suggestion, i found that parent process and killed, now it's running fine. For my knowledge, why a zombie will be created suddenly. we never faced such zombies till now on our box, what makes to cause a zomibe? Last week i actually set a parameter in my init.ora resource_limit=true, and created a profile such that, any connection to the database will be disconnected if it is inactive for more that 60 minutes. Do you think that this might have caused some problems? Because till last week, every thing was fine.

Please share your opinions on this.
P.S. Sorry for late reply, i was working around and continuosly monitoring the server....

    Thanks a lot again

Should I use my power of invisibility for good or evil?
