    recovery problem

    I have a test base running oracle 9i on linuix. I tried to make backup tru backup manager. Everything went ok the job was completed successfully. Then I tried recovey. This job also completed successfully. When I tried to open the database following error ocured ORA-01113: file 1 needs media recovery
    ORA-01110: data file: /u01../system01.dbf
    Any ideas ?

    what if you try to recover manually? if that still fails then your cold/hot backup is not a consistent/good backup, i.e bad

    I would suggest not to use that GUI if you want to know what lies beneath the GUI. Try recovering it manually, refer to the docs and if you still have problem www.dbasupport.com

    when i looked at the script generated by the wizart i saw that the recovery performs only restore of the physical files. I had to manualy "recover database" to synchronise the file and now i am able to open the database

    do yourself a favor and stay away from the gui, you will build your skillset faster and be a better dba for it.
