    TNS-Error

I try to connect an instance in the proper server and I give the following error.

    Enter user-name: oracle@folha
    Enter password:
    ERROR:

ORA-12514: TNS:listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect descriptor

If I connect of any another place it does not give error and it functions perfectly.
    Why ?

If you are using tnsnames file, is it configured with correct service name? What is the default domain in sqlnet.ora file. And what do you mean by "connect to other place". List your tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora entry.

That is like the simplest Oracle error in the world to fix. Real good book on explaining Net8/Oracle Net is O'Reilly's Oracle Net8 Configuration and Troubleshooting.

Funny things like that happen when you don't have your connections configured correctly.

I found the problem. The service_name was different of the SID and listner pointed with respect to the SID, therefore inside of the same server I did not obtain to consult the base.
