    install oracle without dba group

    Hi All:

    Can I install oracle without creating a group DBA, i will create a group name ORACLEDBA. Will there be any problem with a name of the group not same as mentioned in oracle installation (dba/oinstall).

    No there should not be a problem, but whats bad in DBA group.

    Thank you, i just wanted my oracle installtion to go with our standards matching with our s/w. (we want the user name/group to be of our identifieable with the naming conventions).

    I would suggest not to treat Oracle user and group as ordinay user/group. Let them be the way its suggested in the installation guide. After all Oracle also must have used standards for their products .

    err what kind of standard is that, that means you can have only one user per group huh
