Question WARNING: AIOWAIT TIMED OUT 1 TIMES in alert.log file

    Hi all !

Does anyone have encountered the following error message in the alert.log file :

"WARNING: AIOWAIT TIMED OUT 1 TIMES IN ALERT.LOG FILE " ?

Here is the environnement's description :

    - OS : Solaris 5.8 sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R
    - RDBMS : Oracle 8.1.7.0.0
    - Database type : OLTP

It is the first time that we've encountered this error since the database creation (2 years ago).

    Any idea ?

Thanks a lot in advance ...

    Thanks a lot !
But I already read this Note. It's accurate but I would like to know if someone could share his experience with this problem ...
Because the note says that I finally have to call the OS vendor (Solaris) and I would like to know if we could check something ourselves before calling the OS Support.
    Thanks.

You probably have a bad component in your I/O subsystem. You can disable Async I/O at the database level (per metalink note) for the short term.

I had to disable it, apparently sun was not really honoring it anyway.

Look into simulating aio with more writers of all flavors..
