    Nt Alert Log Checker Script

    Dear Gurus

Does anyone know where I can get an alert log checker script for Windows NT/2000?

    Thanks!

    This was interesting: http://www.dbasupport.com/oracle/ora9i/alert_log.shtml
(although if your database is down, how does dbms_job work?)

    Thumbs up

You can also use LogMon utility too. It's a PERL script and on Windows works great with ActivePerl (www.activeperl.org).

    Hope that helps,

Using OEM for alert log monitoring

Thanks Gurus - one of you suggest I use OEM to moniotor the alert log file. Does Oracle provide a script (e.g. a tcl script) which can be scheduled via OEM to monitor the alert log? Please let me know.

I think Mike2000 meant to use the event registration of OEM. It can register all kinds of system-events (database up/down, errors, disk space alerts, etc) and mail you if things start to go worng (it can also page you!)

It can do that for all registered db's in your OEM-repository.
