    oracle 9i custom installation

    while installing 9i if custom installation is selected which are the compulsory components required. i need this to utilize my disk space.

    It depends on, which 9i product you are trying to install - 9i RDBMS, 9i Client, 9i AS or 9i DS.

    For 9i RDBMS - you need the Oracle Server, Networking, SqL*PLus (if you need it) and ODBC/JDBC drivers if you want to use them.

    Most of the components have dependency checking so if you try to remove something which is need it - you will get an error messages.

    Don't worry oracle won't let you deselect the compulsory components... Just go on deselecting and Oracle will let you know.
