    Oracle 9i Install

    Oracle 9i Install

    Hi

I have downloaded and installed the Oracle 9i software for Sun Solaris(32 bit) OS. I have a database (8.1.7) which needed the upgrade.

I Installed the software in a different home and did the manual upgrade using 'dbua' utility.
The dbua seemed to work fine but at the end it was doing some post upgrade task (and was at 57%) and automatically the screen vanished. I found that the database was upgraded to 9.2.0.1 and works fine.
But I am not sure if it would cause problems in the future as I did not receive the 'Upgrade successful" screen, also this was a prelim testing before upgrading our other oracle instances.

Has someone seen this problem before.

    Please let me know.

As you installed the 9i software, you could try export/import. No doubts about it working or not.

    1. Check the alert log for any errors there.

    2. Check the upgrade log files.

    3. Check for any invalid objects in the SYS and SYSTEM schema.

    Hope that helps,

Time series objects were present in the 817 database and 9i doesnot support this: This was the cause and I removed all the timeseries objects and everything works fine

I could reproduce the problem and installation "End" successfully.
