    Ora Install

    Dear Friend

    I have a standalone PC with w98 & linux. I am trying to install Oracle 8i Rel9(8.1.6) for Intel Linux on Red Hat Linux 7. I have created dba & oinstall gr & oracle user. Then I set env var as "# DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0". After mounting the cdrom within oracle user I am gettin an error saying "Can't open display. Set the Display & then Try".Then again I set the env var as "# DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0
    # export display # xhost +127.0.0.1", now it says unable to open display "". Please help me. After setting display env var how & where I have to set the PATH env var, is it necessary. Also why is it necessary to set DISPLAY env var.

    use
    # export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0
    not
    # DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0
