    HELP option is SQLPLUS ?

    Hello all...

    I need to use SQLHELP in ORacle 9i. When i issue Command

    SQL> help alter
    SP2-0172: No HELP available.
    SQL>


    Obviously i haven't installed any HELP option. How do i do about it ?...

    any help is appreciated.

    Easist way is if you have internet at your DBA room .

    tahiti.oracle.com is best to find syntax or error messages.

    I guess you trying to connect to different version of database with 9i client . Online help is not available from 9i client when connect to 7.3 or 8.1.6 ... Other wise online help is not installed on your instance.

    Hi Ron,

    I don't know if this is what you want - I don't about know in 9i but in 8i to implement help you will need to do the following :

    cd $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/help

    SQL> sqlplus system/manager @helpbld.sql helpus.sql

    ...

    SQL>help

    HELP
    ----

    Accesses the SQL*Plus help system. Enter HELP INDEX for a list of topics.

    HELP [topic]
