Any Oracle performance guru's?
Does anyone want to take a stab at this? I have been getting a lot of complaints from the mangers and users of system performance problems. Iknow thats very genral and I am trying to get more specifics from them. In the meantime I have run a bunch of reports and made a few graphs in toad but I need help deciphering the results. I attached them in a zipfile below.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps,
SM
p.s I fixed the redo log size problems already
well i tried to attach the file but it was to large? 1/2 mb oh well i can mail it if someone want to take a look

Check the RBS contentions,
Check the Hit ratios
Check the I/O wait, locks etc.,
Email me the zipfile, so that I can try to look at it while the other guru's can respond.

you can either RTFM or contract an experienced DBA

The short answer is you are waiting on something. Finding out what you are waiting on is a different story.
Start by looking at http://otn.oracle.com/deploy/perform...nt.html#Tuning
I suggest learning about statspack and it's reports.

Pretty good effort !!
My suggestion is - take one thing at a time. Ask your customers to quantify the performance problems. One specific job, one specific module or whatever. Looking at the graphs, there seems to have been a drastic change in the overall load at one point.
Looks like the application doesn't use 'reusable' sql statements - meaning with bind variables. It seems to be using literals. Can that be avoided ?
Lot of MSACCESS users. They always kill your prod databases !! Look at what they are trying to do. Look at their queries.
Is this a 'soon-after-go-live' situation ? Or, things have changed 'off-late' ?

This part isnt sounding good.....and it isnt professional also...
Rather RTM would be better...

Here's the difference.
if you pay someone for advice, you get "RTM".
if you want free advice, you get "RTFM"
