    Unhappy what if scenario ???

    hi all

I was wondering what if a DBA forgets all the three main dba user accounts passwords ? How does he retreive the lost passwords ?
I am talking about Users --> SYS
    SYSTEM
    INTERNAL

Also as a dba if i query the dba_users, i see all users with their respective passwords column, but the passwords column is encrypted.
Is there anyway can I see the actual password as a DBA of the database.

No - there is no way of seeing the unencrypted passwords. It's a good way of assuring the users that you don't know their passwords to explain this to them.

password in the password column of dba_users is not encrypted its hashed.

and if you are on the server where the oracle database is then you dont need the password for sys as sysdba or internal if the os user is in dba group.

and if you are use password file authentication then you can always use orapwd to change the sys password.
