Adding a datafile to tablespace on Standby database

    Hello All,

The disk containing index datafile on our Standby db
is nearly full and I want to add another datafile on
    another disk.

There is no mention about adding datafiles on standy db
in the documentation although for primary db they are
    detailed.

If I add another datafile to index tablespace the entry will
be in control file of standby db. My concern is will it have
any impact on archive application as the data file will not
    be on primary db.

    Waiting for ur replies.

    Best Regards,

    Kashif

It is useless to add a datafile to standby database, because Log Apply Service applys archived logfiles based on block ID. You need to add a datafile on primary database first. You can also directly move the standby datafile to another disk, remember to change the datafile filename mapping in Init.ora.
