How to create a repository

I want to learn working with designer.
what all i have to do, if I want to use it ?
I installed database Oracle 9i.
(I have cd's with Developer tools and Application server. All 9i)
Could you tell me all steps what I have to install next ?
(Because i reinstalled 2 times my OS...)

You have installed The database good . That takes care of 50% of the work.

Now install Designer in seperate ORACLE_HOME if you are installing it on the same machine. Here i'm assuming that you are installing Designer 6i (as you never mentioned what version of designer you are using)
