    AR vs MV

    Hi All,

    Env.
    OS HPUX 11i
    database 9.2.0.1.0
We have a database of 400GB. We want to replicate it to our three sites. The database on all three sites is used for Reporting only.

    1. Should we go for Master to Master for all three sites?
    2. We should go for Master to Mviews for 1:2.

Is the option no. 2 less complicated? Will it consume less resource?

    Thanks in advance.

Your question is very confusing. You are asking whether you should go for advanced replication or for simple snapshot replication. What's here to ask about? If your requirements can be satisfied with snapshots, why even considering AR? If your requirements dictate the use of advanced replication, why even asking about simple snapshots?

Is simple snapshot (MV) replication less complicated? But of course, isn't that self evident?

Will it consume less resources? It depends on which resources you have in mind, but it is quite safe to say: YES, it will consume less resources than AR.

    sorry for the confusion.
    Let me explain
1.We don’t need any DMLs on destination sites.
2.We need to synchronize the destination site every 5 minutes
Keeping this in mind which option is best for us "Master to master" or "Master to Mview"

From your question it is clear that u are not going to have any DML at replicated site.So u can go for snapshot replication which is less complicated than the Master to Master.

and advanced replication is "not" transparent to any application, you have to adapt your application to it

    Thanks for your advice.
    One more query

In comparison of multimaster, do fast refresh read only mview site
    1. need less Disk space
    2. and less memory
    3. Do they at all need master replication site.
