    Unhappy libsvrmgrl.a missing from 9.2

After installing Oracle 9.2 rel 2 - I've noticed that /lib/libsvrmgrl.a is no loger.

When I used to connect to sys.aud$ with an application I used only:
Role Connect, Select any table and select from sys.aud$.
Now - I must run it with Role DBA :-(

    Why?

    Thanks,

    Amit.

Thats because svrmgr is no longer supported in 9i and above.

    So I understand :-)

As I'm using now sqlplus /nolog instead.

Yet - the application I'm working with - used to link to this lib, do you know which lib "took over" that old one? Is it libsqlplus.a ?

Also - the problem I have connecting to the sys.aud$ using role connect is a problem.

    Thanks,

    Amit.

I hope you don't mind elaborating a little bit more about your so called application.

    Hi Amar,

We wrote a recorder which connect to the Oracle Server and read the sys.AUD$ table.

Using Oracle 9 and below - our application used to connect and get the needed records using an Oracle user with:
    Role Connect
    SYS - Select any table
    Obj - Select sys.AUD$

Now - using Oracle 9.2 rel 2 [with the latest patch as well]
Only using Role DBA - I can get my Application to get the records.

Using sqlplus - I can still use Role Connect.

Since this Application used to link to a static lib (libsvrmgrl.a) which is now no longer supported with Oracle 9.2 - I thought there was a link between the lib and the Role.

    Hope this is more clear.

    Thanks,

    Amit.

AFAIK i don't think there should be any link between a ROLE and a OS Oracle library.

But you still did not explain about your application, what programming or scripting are you using ? PL/SQL, shell, PERL ??
    Or forms etc...

And how do you connect to the database... through some driver or Oracle Net ??
