    Check Point not complete

    Hi Gurus
I'm running Oracle 8.1.7 on Linux 6.2 . The database is in no- -archive log mode, and my log file size is 10MB. Daily in my alert log, i'm seeing a message for many times .

Thread 1 advanced to log sequence 2366644
    Current log# 1 seq# 2366644 mem# 0: /opt/oracle/oradata/cmsrpt1/redo01.log
Thread 1 cannot allocate new log, sequence 2366645
    Checkpoint not complete

Why exactly this happens? I checked in the docs also, but couldn't figure out any solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Thanks

This message indicates that Oracle wants to reuse a redo log file, but the corresponding checkpoint associated is not terminated. In this case, Oracle must wait until the checkpoint is completely realized. This situation may be encountered particularly when the transactional activity is important.

To prevent this increase the size of your redo logs or add more redo log groups.
