1 DB 1instance vs 1 DB multiple instances --- Wh

    Guys here is the scenario

we have 30 different clients.currently running one db and one instance(medium configuration).getting better big configuration.
is it better to create 5 clients per instance.
we have tons of data in each table in the range of 5-10 million rows .I say my database as OLTP tooo...

So wchih one is th ebest option and why do you all think so....
    is
1 DB 1instance for all clients vs 1 DB multiple instance for a group of clients --- Which one you reccomnd

    thanks

There is only one option which your corp is going for. Why does the corp spend on hardware upgrades if they can manage and impress their clients with existing hardware. That means that you Clientele is not satisfied with current performance OR sooner they will not be satisfied as management see there is gonna be growth in their client base and current hardware may not be enough to support.

    One database and multiple instances?

Are you using OPS or RAC?

Do all your systems use the same database (VPDB)?

I guess I don't fully comprehend what you are trying to do and how your system is currently setup.

AFAIK, its nothing to do with how big is the database. Its depends on what kinda of applications, howmany concurrent applications, its in distributed environment or not, 24X7X365 avaialbility, no of users etc will create the necessity for use of n-instance 1-vldb OR RAC (OPS).

There are 1-instance and 1-vldb configurations exisits with top of the level hardware configurations using Sun12K or IBM S80 and other top of the level machines around the world...
