    hi hrishy,

actually my original qn is if we dont specify any db_block_size in init.ora does this mean ORacle will take the lowest value of 2048 as the default blocksize or is it pluck somewhere from the OS parameter block size?

    Hi folks,

When oracle says, your db_block_size should be the multiple of OS block size, are they refrrring to the OS block size at the finest level ie., ( eg..512bytes) or the file system block size.

Well the file system block size can be found by
    # fstyp –v /dev/dsk/c0d0s0 | grep size

I was always under the impression, that it was file system block size.
    Could somebody clarify this.
    Regards

    Hi Sonia

The os block size is not relevant..for most of ORACLE its the file system block size..the db block size should be atleast equal to the file system block size..i.e df -g output as shown in the thread

    regards
    Hrishy
