    Questions on user ctxsys

    Just a confirmation....
    IS the user 'ctxsys' created during a Oracle installation?
    If so, then what is this users schema used for and can it be safely locked out?

    Your input highly appreciated.

    This user is for the intermedia/context option and is created upon installation. If you are not using this feature, then yes it is safe to lock this user.

    Oracle creates 'ctxsys' user at install time, if you have selected to Oracle InterMedia option while creating database. If you dont use those intermedia features, you can safely LOCK this user.
