    Removing Database from 9i on NT

    I have 3 database running on NT and I would like to remove one of database. Can you tell me how to do this and what to look out for? If I just remove all the datafiles from Operating System, would it remove the database?

    no, with NT you got to be clean on the service removal since it's a pain in the ... to do it later.

    stop the instance and use oradim : oradim -delete -sid my_instance

    check that the service OracleServiceMy_instance has been deleted, and you can then safely delete the datafiles.

    To remove dead services from services do not play with the registry. Search for the "delsrv.exe" in the forum uploaded by one of the forum member. You can use this to delete the dead service.. It works quite fine for NT. Well this is not a real pro solution.. but it works out

    In register:
    section --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE --> delete all
    section --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC --> delete positions for Oracle (ORACLE, and ODBCINST.INI)
    section --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes --> delete all positions with name Oracle
    section --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services --> delete all Oracle services that
    still alive after oradim -delete
    section --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application -->
    delete all positions with name Oracle
    section --> HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\ORACLE --> delete whole section

    system path (Control Panel-Environment-Path) remove Oracle\...\Bin,...\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\bin

    delete all positions with name Oracle from Common Files\Odbc\Datasources

    I always glad to delete Oracle from Windows.
