    Hi Amar,

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for all of your questions, but I'm trying to find out. In the meantime, I can tell you the the real people behind the forum are the moderators and folks who are willing to spend their time helping others out. Without them, we wouldn't have a forum.

Jupitermedia.Corp pays the bills and keeps the servers running.

I'm not sure when the forums actually opened; the oldest post in the archives is 10/2/2000. There may have been another forum/message board system in place that wasn't converted as the boards evolved over time. Checking the internet archive "way back machine" I find the site was updated on 10/7/1999, and checking the archived page shows a copyright of 1998.

Since I wasn't here, I can't tell you how the moderators were chosen.
