Can u show your 'archive' parameters ?
This problem has been reported when using log_archive_dest_n. After switching to log_archive_dest it has been solved.

Has it worked before and just now started to fail? Or is this the first time you have tried?
Do you have "log_archive_dest = " in your init.ora?

I only have one archive destination:
# Uncommenting the lines below will cause automatic archiving if chiving has
# been enabled using ALTER DATABASE ARCHIVELOG.
log_archive_start = true
log_archive_dest_1 = "location=/opt/oracle/admin/mrprodb/arch"
log_archive_format = arch_%t_%s.arc

log_archive_dest_1 = "location=/opt/oracle/admin/mrprodb/arch"
Try using the parameter log_archive_dest instead.
