    Large Oracle Process Memory Use

    Hi,

I am new to an Oracle system and I am noticing something that I have never seen before. Their user process use huge amounts of memory, ie each process may have 300M of RAM. The SGA size for the instance in question is only 300M itself. What could be causing such a high usage of memory. I am using top as my tool of reference. I heard a rumor about open_cursors. Please advise.

The user processes use shared memory.
