    client version

    Guys, strange question, I need to know the exact version of my Oracle client software. whether it's 8.1.7 or 8.1.7.4.1 or 8.1.7.4.6 ?
    How can I find it out ?

    The full veriosn number is quoted in

    $ORACLE_HOME/doc/relnotes/toc.htm

    just open SQL*Plus with any connect string, you'll see the header, something like :

    SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Ma Fev 18 15:43:19 2003

    Windows -
    right-click on ORACLE_HOME\bin\sqlplusw.exe, Properties, go to the Version tab, read the File version line
