    migration from sqlserver to Oracle8i

    Hi

Currently we are in the process of migrating our Sqlserver 7.0 database to Oracle8.1.6. But there seems to be to less help available for the same on the net. There is so much of help for migrating from oRacle to sqlserver but not viceversa.

could some on give me links where i can find help & things to take care about before preceeding with migration from sqlserver to Oracle 8i

Don't know if this helps but Oracle produce a tool called Workbench. I've never used it but have often read on this forum that it can be used to migrate Access to Oracle. Perhaps it can also do the same with SQL Server?

May be this link (online Book)might help little to understand the architectural differences of both RDBMS.

I did same migration in my previous company. I dumped sql tables into ascii files and uploaded same using SQL Loader into Oracle. Recreated all the indexes in Oracle. I think this is the best way of doing it, since you will have full control over the data and objects.
