    RAID choice for DB server

    If I HAVE TO choose between RAID 1 and RAID 5 for storing the data files of an OLTP DB, which one would be better in terms of performance? I understand RAID 5 has worse performance for write operations because of parity calculations. Does it mean RAID 1 is better in this case (without concerning price, capacity usage)?

    RAID 1 would provide better performance than RAID 5.

    As for recoverability, they are equal.
    As for price, RAID 1 will be more expensive.

    If price is not a major concern, use RAID 1.
