    Talking Ora-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error when asset the database from the web server

    Hi all,

    I have this problem and I am not sure how to start troubleshoot the problem. I can connect to the database using SQL plus and it worked fine; however, when I open the web site to access to the database, the web page bomb and I got the this error


    Ora-12560: TNSrotocol adapter error


    cna someone give me some advises????

    BTW, we are running 8.1.7.3 on windows 2000 server


    please advise, it's kinda of urgent

    make sure that the OracleServiceSID is running before trying to connect.

    for sure it's running. As I said earlier, when I connect throught SQLPLUS it worked fine

    What format are you using to connect to the DB?

    PHP?
    OO4O via ASP?
    ODBC?

    Also, posting the "connect" section of your code would be helpful, as it sounds to me like it's a code problem rather than a database problem...

    If u r using ODBC to connect........check if u have given the right Server name ( Service_name ) on the Application Server where the application is running......
