    Shared Libraries problems after Oracle v8.1.7.0.0 on Suse v8.0 Linux.

    Hi all!

    I am new on Suse v8.0 Linux version.

    Anyways,do you know any web site for Suse v8.0 Linux for Oracle DBAs like dbasupport.com where I may interact with Linux experts on Suse v8.0.

    Our Technical Team had recently installed Oracle v8.1.7.0.0 on Suse v8.0 Linux but sqlplus is not getting connected.Oracle error message keeps on flashing on connecting/logging as below:

    system/manager@ora8
    Oracleora8:error while loading Shared Libraries:
    libskgup8.so:cannot open shared object file:No such file or directory.
    Error:ORA-12457:TNS:Lost contact.

    Could you anyhow relate this error to your Sun Solaris OS as to what could be causing Shared Libraries problem as above.

    In addition to the above,I keep getting the error:TNS Could not resolve service name.I had even configured TNSNAMES.ORA File correctly.

    Any idea!

    A line or two on best possible suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amit.

    Hi,
    i installed 9iR2 on Suse 8.1 and had problems with the gcc-libs because Suse 8.1 used gcc 3.x;
    But i solved the problem and installed the 'COMPAT'-package with yast which makes some symbolic links to the libraries use with gcc 2.9.xx.
    And 9i runned evenn if it 's not alowed with Suse 8.1;

    I like having Oracle 9 on Suse very much !!

    Hi Orca777,

    Thanks for taking out your valuable time.

    Do you mean to say that I need to apply that Patch from OTN
    in order to correct the shared library problem.

    Is this the reason why Oracle is not connecting I mean sqlplus.

    Looking forward to hearing from you on this.

    Regards,

    Amit.

    Hi Orca777,

    Thanks for taking out your valuable time.

    I found out from my Technical Team that they had used Glib v 2.1.2 and the relevant Tar file.Now will the available patch be of any help on OTN which is based on Glib - v2.1.3 in order to solve my shared library problems.

    Is it ok to reinstall the Oracle database once again.What do you say.

    Is this the reason why Oracle is not connecting I mean sqlplus.

    Looking forward to hearing from you on this.
