    synchronizing 2 databases

    Hi all,

I have 2 databases both oracle8.1.7 on two machines( the structures of whcih are different ). Now I have some tables in both the databases. The updates keep happening on one database and I need to synchronize these tables on both databases on a nightly basis , I mean whatever updates have been done on the tables on one database I need them to be brought to the 2nd database. This is just for a few ( 20 odd ) tables. Can anyone suggest how this can be done. I do not have any experience in Oracle.

    Thanks
    K

    Hi

You need to read about REPLICATION in the oracle concepts manual

please visit tahiti.oracle.com and search for replication..that is what you should be lookin for...

To help configure and administer replication environments, Oracle provides a sophisticated Replication Management tool in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Console. The Replication Management tool online help is the primary documentation source for this tool.
