    Hi,

Join as Oracle Programmer/Developer, Learn SQL,PL/SQL and Unix deeply... Then Learn the Unix Admin/Windows Admin and Then do OracleDBA... This is the way how to become DBA (skill wise)

But Initially get the job in Oracle programming.......

    All the BEST!!!!!!!!

    bye

At this stage in the game I would say take ANY job that enables you to work with Oracle. The job market is in the pits and you have no experience, so you have a long uphill climb ahead of you.

Laxman is on the money too, having a developers background is going to make you a stronger DBA, take it from a putz like me that has no developer background. If you can get an entry level developer job take it!

Learning the OS is detrimental as well, often you will be asked to perform the role of Systems Administrator because, after all, you are the DBA.

    Good Luck out there.

Learning UNIX can burn a lot of brain cells, but detrimental? No.
