I have installed on d:\orahome81 the oracle 8.1.7
In order to install the runtime I tried:
1.create a new directory on the different drive but I got the message:
Rep runtime does not support multiple installations can not be installed on the other location Only on OraHome81
Run Oracle Installer and select OraHOme81 as a target location

    2.rerun the setup.exe ,select dracle\ora81 and messg
The location dracle\ora81 is already used by an Oracle home for Oracle 817 Production Can’t be used a

in earlier version of developers multiple homes are not supported so... first install forms and reports and then the OEM...

    Things should go like this.
    1. Developer first.
    2. Database next.

well you can try setting the registry and point
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>ORACLE>DEFAULT_HOME to the the directory where you are installing the reports runtime.

but since u say its your production so better not to that if you are not sure what to change...
