    Unhappy Oracle clients

Does anyone out there know if an Oracle 8.0.5 client and an Oracle 9i client can co-exist on the same Windows 2000 workstation. I know 8.0.5 is not support or certified but we have to use it.

Everytime I do a 9i install on a box with 8.0.5 the 8.0.5 ODBC driver will not work anymore.

    Anyone experience this issue.

    Thanks

There should be no problem with those two clients instaled under different oracle homes. I have 8.0.5, 8.1.7 and 9.0.1 instaled on the same Win2K box without any problems.

I do not use ODBC, so I can't comment regarding ODBC isues though....

If you don't use the 9i ODBC drivers, then don't install them with the 9i installation. That might spare your 8.0.5 ODBC drivers.

It has to do something with Windows, because I have 8.0.6, 8.1.7 and 9.2.0 clients on the same Solaris 8 box and they both work fine.

Did you check your registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> ODBC :
ODBC.INI and ODBCINST.INI directories? It has list of your db instances and the Driver they are using. Try to set this back to 8.0.5 ODBC driver location.

    Hope that helps,
