Can we change the character set?

I have installed oracle 8.1.5 on my notebook, and have done some migration from 8.0.4 server (character Set AR8ISO8859P6). After the data migration is over i have facing problem in my database due to differnece in character set, coz the NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETER is AR8ISO8859P6 in Oracle 8.0.4 and on Oracle Personal Edition WE8ISO58859P1.

My questions for gurus is can i change the Character set of the 8.1.5 database to AR8ISO8859P6 from WE8ISO58859P1? If so then how? so that it could see the data which I have migrated, I think we can do it by updatin some fixed tables and then doin the data migration again.

    Thanks in advance.

I doubt you will able to change WE8ISO58859P1 to AR8ISO8859P6. Because you can change database character set to only its super-set characeter set and super-set of 'AR8ISO8859P6' is 'AR8ASMO708PLUS'.
